Molecular imaging is an emerging discipline for in vivo diagnosis, staging and monitoring of several diseases. Molecular imaging uses tracers to picture various disease markers, enabling localization and identification of for example tumors and metastases. For the treating physician, molecular imaging agents enhance the visual contrast and may provide specific information about both structures and processes in the pathological tissues of interest.
Molecular imaging is one important means of providing the data needed to enable personalized medicine. Furthermore, molecular imaging will be an important tool in the development of novel highly specific pharmaceuticals. Affibody® molecules are well suited for molecular imaging.
